8/14/2023 0 Comments Cassie and maddy euphoria![]() ![]() This approach works, at least to briefly catch Nate’s attention, but it’s an insight into just how quickly Cassie is losing herself and trying anything (even ripping off the best friend she’s betraying) just to get a passing glance from a guy. She even does the laid down edges like Maddy, which for white Cassie is not a great look. So it’s ironic that Cassie tries to adopt Maddy’s signature confident look when she’s clearly spiraling out of control.Ĭassie’s makeup changes too – her usual day look is bare-faced and glowy, but after falling for Nate she starts echoing Maddy’s heavier and vampy-er looks. A set says “I have my life in order,” projecting the sometimes obsessive need for control Queen Bees have. As Vogue writes, “Matching sets and flashy suits are an easy, impactful shorthand for the queen bee” - think Cher Horowitz, or Blair Waldorf – and Maddy’s no exception. When Cassie becomes determined to catch Nate’s attention, she changes her style to be more like his ex Maddy’s, and even just completely copies Maddy with this Y2K-esque matching set and mini handbag. So what’s the secret emotional meaning underneath each of Cassie’s season 2 looks? ![]() Euphoria’s makeup and fashion looks are influential and iconic, but they also have a deeper meaning, reflecting what’s going on with the characters. So what’s the secret emotional meaning underneath each of Cassie’s season two looks?Ĭassie, Cassie… What is going on, Cassie? Season-two-Cassie goes through some major changes, and so does her style. The reason I chose this example is that I find it so interesting how Maddie is the one who introduces them both, but it is her in the end that has (-) ties with Nate and Cassie. In season two of Euphoria, Cassie Howard goes through some major changes, and so does her style. Strong Triadic Closure truly makes the idea of relationships so simple and the toxicity of one when it is unbalanced. Therefore the triangle once again becomes balanced because, Cassie and Nate have a strong tie, but both of them now have weak ties with Maddie. That is when the secret comes out and Maddie fights with Cassie. This relationship is unbalanced because Cassie cannot continue to talk to both Nate and Maddie when Maddie and Nate do not like each other. Though the first option seems way more likely because Maddie and Cassie have been friends forever, Cassie decides that she likes Nate and starts a secret relationship with him. Either stop talking to Nate and still be friends with Maddie and return to a once balanced triangle or decide to pick Nate and sever ties with Maddie. Since they had no chance of ever getting back together and having a relationship again, Cassie had two choices. ![]() This means there are two + edges and one – edge. However, at the start of season 2, Maddie and Nate break up, causing for the relationship to become unbalanced. Because she had a strong bond with both of them, they became friends as well. In season 1, Maddie, the brunette in the picture, was dating Nate and was also best friends with Cassie, the blonde in the picture. Balanced networks can only be (+,+,+) or (+,-,-) while unbalanced networks can either be (-,-,-) or (-,+,+). I am going to be explaining how this trio went from balanced to unbalanced and back to balanced. This includes an incentive for A to introduce B and C to each other. This leads to the idea of Strong Triadic Closure, where it is not possible for two individuals to have a strong relationship with a common friend and not know each other. Triadic Closure is the idea that there is an opportunity for B and C to meet because they both know A. These 3, in my opinion, best represent what triadic closure is. One big part of the show’s second season was the relationship between Nate Jacobs, Maddy, and Cassie. ![]() We would get cozy in one of our dorms and watch the latest episode that came out every Sunday. Last semester, my friends and I were obsessed with Euphoria. ![]()
